"Action" Jackson here, with some good news from Raiderland. This past Sunday, my Oakland Raiders took on the Tennessee Titans in Nashville and secured a victory 17-10, improving to 2-1. I'll break down each phase of the game below. OffenseDerek Carr, Amari Cooper, Latavius Murray, and Michael Crabtree all made big plays. The offensive line kept Derek clean and opened holes for the running game. Michael Crabtree made some crucial third down conversions, and Amari Cooper continues to look like a future top 5 NFL wide receiver. My only issue? Derek threw his first interception. It's week 3 of the season, so that's probably ok. No turnovers would be nice when we head to Baltimore next week. Grade: A DefenseWhat's that? It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a Raiders' DB finally making a play and intercepting a pass! The defense forced three turnovers on the day, two Marcus Mariota interceptions and one Mariota fumble. The team started rookies Karl Joseph (S) and Cory James (MLB) this week instead of their veteran counterparts, and the young guys delivered, with Joseph leading the team in tackles this weekend and James being present for nearly every defensive snap. The defense won us this one, with the final drive of the game punctuated by a flag not being thrown against us (thank you, football gods) for defensive pass interference. We need to keep this defensive effort up because Joe Flaaco is no slouch and if he and his receivers have time, they'll shed our secondary. Grade: B Special TeamsFrom what I could tell, the kicker made his kicks, people made their tackles, everyone did their jobs, and no one got embarrassed like they did last week. That's how you win games in the NFL. A win is a win, and I'll take that all day. I'm satisfied. Grade: A CoachingThe decision to start two rookies on your defense after two weeks of bad performances overall takes balls. Like, balls of steel. Thankfully, Jack Del Rio made the right choice, and it paid off. These kinds of decisions are tough, but it paid off in a big way. With a quality team in Baltimore next on the schedule, Del Rio will need to keep his team focused and in the moment. Playing on the road against a playoff contender is never easy, but I think we can get it done like we did last season.
Grade: A+ Next week, I'll review the results of our match-up against the Baltimore Ravens. -JAJ Falcons vs Saints (-3)busy day today, no time for synopsis just wanna get my pick on the board.
My Pick Falcons +3 Your weekly picks are back and better than ever, I am 19-16 on the season and hope to continue my winning ways. Lets get to the picks Ravens vs. Jags (+1)Here's the deal. I got a soft spot in my heart for the Jaguars, I'm a huge Blake Bortles guy, he is easily the most likable QB in the NFL. There offense should be really good and they have some pieces on defense. The problem is, they just keep on losing. Maybe they're farther away than I thought, but i'll be dammned if I get off the Jaggin off train now. My Pick Jags +1 R*dskins vs. Giants (-3.5)One of my favorite matchup's of the year is this weekend, OBJ vs. Josh Norman and Norman has said he will actually follow him all over the field except for the slot. This in itself makes this game worth watching, Norman is one of maybe 3 corners who has a chance of keeping up with him (Peterson and Sherman). Kirk Cousins is who we thought he was: a middle of the road, average QB who won't really surprise you either way. He won't play lights out and destroy you but also wont throw a crazy amount of picks and ruin your game. I still like Desean Jackson a deep ball threat, and the stability of a pocket QB with a big arm can only be good for his game. If this was a pick em, I would have a hard time picking this game. But with the Points, this game became an easy pick. My Pick R*dskins +3.5 Cardinals Vs. Bills (+4.5)Any question if the Card's had aged out of their prime after their week one loss to the Pat's are gone after the destruction they rained down on tampa bay last week. Larry Fitz is an ageless wonder who has been putting in work for my fantasy team this season, and they might have the best secondary in the NFL. On the other side of the ball we have the bills, who suffer from the same syndrome that the Jag's suffer from this year. They are supposed to be way better than they are, which was evident after their loss last week to the Jets. While I am a big fan of T mobile, not enough of a fan to pick them with this tiny of a spread. My Pick Cardinals (-4.5) Broncos vs. Bengals (-3)I have no idea who made this line, but they are OUT OF THEIR MINDS. I would pick the broncos strait up in this game, the bengals have shown me nothing to make me believe they should be favored against the reigning super bowl champs. With my MORTAL LOCK.... My Pick Broncos +3 Cleveland Vs. Miami (-10)This will be the hardest one for me to do because of the spread, but I will never pick the browns. I'm 2-0 with this strategy and don't plan on stopping now. My Pick Miami (-10) Raiders vs. Titans (+1)Vegas is criminally underrating the Raiders after their week 2 loss to the falcons. They are a much, much better team than the Titans who are a couple years away from doing anything in the NFL. Vegas is leaving easy money on the table this week. My Pick Raiders -1 Minnesota vs. Carolina -7At the beginning of this season I was looking forward to this game as a possible preview of a playoff matchup or even an NFC championship game matchup. After Bridgewaters and AP's injury, this game will be pretty one sided. The only question left is if the Panthers will cover, which I believe they will. My Pick Panthers (-7) Detroit vs. Green bay (-7)Green Bay is the better team than Detroit. There is debate about that, it is just facts. These two teams always tend to play each-other aggressively and close, every one remembers Rodgers Hail Mary against the lion's last year to pull off the win with 0 time on the clock. Just because of this rivalry, -7 is a little to rich for my blood. My Pick Lions +7 San Fransisco vs. Seattle (-11)Once again, Seattle is a better team the 49ers and its not even close. In every facet and position its not even close. The Seahawks will be PISSED coming off a 9-3 loss to the lowly rams. -11 is a BONKERS line out of vegas and because of that... My Pick 49ers (+11) Rams vs. Bucs (-6)The Ram's are getting no respect off of there week 2 win over the the Seahawks, but they are going to play a pissed off Buc's team that has weapons across the board. At -6 I would say these teams are about evenly matched and this game could go either way, so I'm going with ... My Pick Buc's -6 Steelers vs. Eagles (+5.5)I'm huge on the Steelers this year, in fact they are my sleeper to make a run at the Super Bowl. I have not been impressed with the Eagles, or Carson Wentz. I see this game being a BLOW OUT. My Pick Steelers (-5.5) San Diego vs. Indianapolis (-3)First off, thoughts and prayers to the grittiest player in the NFL, Danny Woodhead who is done for the year and maybe his career. There is nothing about the Chargers that is interesting or exciting, Phillip Rivers is on the edge of being washed and there Defense has nothing worth note. On the other side of the ball, Andrew Luck has never truly lived to the expectations that he had coming out of Stanford. This team is better the chargers, plain and simple. My Pick Colts (-3) Jets vs. Chiefs (-4)The Jets pulled off a shocking win against bills last week, which opened my eyes to this team being pretty good. The Chief's are also a pretty good team, so this will shape up to be a good matchup. Maybe it's my bias here, but I think the AFC west is the best division in the NFL by a mile. My Pick Chiefs (-4) Chicago vs. Dallas -4Let's keep it plain and simple; the bears STINK this year. They have been on a downward spiral for a couple of years now and they have gotten to the point where their offense and defense are embarrassing to the Bears legacy as a team. The Cowboys aren't anything truly special this year, but their for damn sure better than the Bears. My Pick Cowboys (-4) There are my week 3 picks, maybe the spread be forever in your favor.
-CC I explain how over under betting works and we make some picks for the NFL this weekend.
